Muzons

A self-hosted music library with a native app

Search for a song, add it, and the server downloads and transcodes it to 256kbps AAC. Your library, your files, your machine.

What it does

Six things the server and the app handle between them.

Installing an APK

Android does not trust apps from outside the Play Store until you say so. Four steps, once.

  1. Download the APK from this page

Your browser will warn you that APK files can be harmful. That warning is standard for anything installed outside the Play Store — keep the file.

  2. Open the file

Tap it in the download notification, or find it in your Files app under Downloads.

  3. Allow install from unknown sources

Android will block the first attempt and offer a Settings shortcut. Turn on "Allow from this source" for the app you opened the file with, then go back.

  4. Install and sign in

Tap Install. When the app opens, enter the server address and the account details from whoever runs the server.

On iOS? There is no iOS download here and no App Store listing. The only way onto an iPhone is to clone the repo and build the app yourself with Xcode.
